Today early in the test implementation work, create database link manual, not always from the 10g database to connect to the 11g database, password and user name are correct, error information for:

SQL> select * from tab@easypoint;
select * from tab@easypoint
                  *
The first line error:
ORA-01017: user / password invalid login denied;
ORA-02063: followed by line (from EASYPOINT)

Access to information after the discovery, storage 11g for the password is case sensitive, so in the created from 10g to 11g database link, need password will be sealed by double quotation marks, the form below:

create database link easypoint
  connect to easypoint identified by "easypoint"
  using '(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.1.81)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVICE_NAME = cfhidb)
    )
  )';

Find the root of the problem, solve it easily.:

SQL> create database link easypoint
  2 connect to easypoint identified by "easypoint"
  using '(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.1.81)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVICE_NAME = cfhidb)
    )
  )';  3    4    5    6    7    8    9   10

Create database link.

SQL> select * from tab@easypoint;

No line selected
